LOS ANGELES (Jan. 19) - Allan Melvin, a character actor best known for playing Sam the Butcher on "The Brady Bunch," has died. He was 84.

Melvin died of cancer Thursday at his home in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles, said Amalia Melvin, his wife of 64 years.

Allan Melvin, Jan. 17: The TV veteran's defining role was as Sam the butcher on 'The Brady Bunch,' but he also voiced several cartoon characters, including Magilla Gorilla. He died of cancer at the age of 84.

The jowly, jovial Melvin spent decades playing a series of sidekicks, second bananas and lovable lugs, including Archie Bunker's friend Barney Hefner on "All in the Family," and Sgt. Bilko's right-hand man Cpl. Henshaw on the "Phil Silvers Show."

But his place in pop culture will be fixed as butcher and bowler Sam Franklin, the love interest of Brady family maid Alice Nelson, who was played by Ann B. Davis. Melvin played the role from 1970 to 1973.

Born in Kansas City, Mo., in 1923, Melvin grew up in New York and attended Columbia University.

He was appearing on Broadway in "Stalag 17" when he began his decades-long television career with "The Phil Silvers Show," playing a role his wife said was always his favorite.

Back to the Inja... again!

So i know i've been away for way too long.
but it's not really an issue b/c the two people that actually read this get filled in about most things anyway.

Anyhoo, I'll have to retell the previous trip from Summer 2007 in separate postings because in 5 hours I'm jumping on a plane to hit the shores of India once again.
And yes, I am psyched about the elephants (again).

In short the trip is two-fold.

1- My dad is turning 60 and there will be a small shindig with famous indian people or something. originally wasn't going to go, but i have the coolest family ever so fuck it, now it's on like Donkey Kong Jr.

2- For a few years now, even though everyone else saw what was happening to me and tried their best to help, I've allowed the thing that makes me TomTom to be chipped and gutted away before i knew it.

That's all fracking changed. It started with the first trip in July of 07, but the 2008 Year of Tom is kicking things up and this short run will help.

I'm in need of rechargin my soulstrength.
It will be better, stronger, and one bad... (shut your mouth!).

taking off for the motherland tomorrow.
it may be a quik jaunt, but anyone that knows me knows it's much needed.
also, just a quik thanks and i'm sorry to all the people that love me and that put up with a lot of my nonsense. I love you all. even the ones that think i don't.

I'm taking all the negative and the foul. all that is not as what it should or could have been, and in its wake shall only be purity and love. I'm making moves left, right, and around the globe. The Year of Tom is here people, and it's hittin strong! Stay out of my way and just enjoy it. Because if you're really with me, you'll always be with me. And since the circle is ascending again, it's gonna be a damn good place to be! Apologies to all for it taking so long!

There's a saying that a frog will not jump into a a pot of boiling water, but if you put it in a pot of cold water and slowly turn the heat up, you'll have frog legs in no time.
This frog woke up a while back, but has been stuck for too long.

i did consider going to the Carribean with someone instead.
but nahhhhh.
That decadence will come later. And hooooboy will it come.
but for now let's start with fortifying the soul.

10 AM tomorrow starts the 17 hr flight.
more then or after.
Either way, i'm back.

Happy New Year!

1/2/08
The new year is here.
After an amazing start to it at the farm, rest is needed so that i am braced for the 363 left to me.
funny how short that number seems now.
sands in the scrabble hourglass of time i suppose.

Evolution, Devolution, or Revolution...

SO I read this article a few days back on a dolphin that apparently has four fins.

Read the AP article here

apparently at one point water mammals were once land mammals.
does this 4-finned dolphin signal the return of dolphins to land?
i always thought maybe when whales and dolphins beached themselves there may be something to it.
Evolution/Devolution?

But all that kept poppin in my mind was the Simpsons - Night of the Dolphin episode.

We are in trouble.

All hail King Snorky!

Episode IV: A NEW HOPE...

first, a thank you to all those that voted regardless of party affiliation.
second, a thank you to all those that raged against the machine.

now let's see if/how the new kids screw it up.
but at the very least we've got rid of Lil Rummy.
as a homage i encourage you all to revisit my Lil Bush episode collections which is easily accessible from the "labels" area below.

TOMORROW>>>>

Just a quik reminder for any that may come across this page.

VOTE TOMORROW NOVEMBER 7th.

if you don't vote (even if you are in states where the outcome is a "given") then i don't want to hear a single piece of bitching from you until you do.
(the one caveat is whether you can legally vote. dependent on the circumstances, ie not here illegally, debate will be tolerated by moi. as long as you are ready to hold your own political system on the line as well.)

My policy is if you exercise your right to vote (and advocate others to do so as well) then you can complain to me.
Otherwise there are going to be some words btwn me and you.

Seriously though people, I AM BEGGING YOU - GO OUT AND VOTE.
even though it will be at least 2010-2012 before we will see any real return to the country we love, let's at least take out the trash that created the mess we're in.
and i'll even let you fill in the blank regarding what mess it is:

-Economy
-rest of the world hating us
-war
-_(fill in your joy here)_

that's just the realistic nature of the game.
i do find it weird that such change will take place around the time of the end of the MAYAN CALENDAR
(maybe the end is nigh)

but if our govt does take on the rapid quik changes an active democracy should in rectifying its problems i will be impressed.
If not then at least we tried to work within the system.

That way if it fails, you will join your fellow Patriots in the streets!

If ever a fetus should have been aborted, it should have been Bill O'Reilly...

Ladies, i apologize for being crass, but Bill O'Reilly really is a douchebag...

Confidentiality? Privacy? Law? They don't apply to this fine journalist. Read article here.

what i wouldn't give for his smug ass to get convicted.
but not only convicted.
convicted and sent to a real example of the Fed/State penal system and not some Club Fed. (mind you i wish there really was a rehabilitation system instead of the insanity of US Jails.)
sent to one of those fine institutions where he would get to experience instances of horror and not have any recourse about it.
and after that wonderful moment in his life, i hope someone reports the stats on his depression and other pertinent classified medical case files.

maybe, just maybe, then he wouldn't be so high and mighty and still have no problem casually citing such information.
